Tap into Disability Justice Communities & Projects Around LA
Whether you're looking for services, or want to get involved in actions that support disabled neighbors, the groups and projects below are great starting point.
Mask Bloc LA
Mask Bloc is a mutual aid organization that distributes respirator masks, tests, and educational resources for free so we can all protect our neighbors and community. Check out their socials and this post in particular to find out how you can help, and how to request masks or other resources.
Spoonie Uni
Spoonie Uni is a space by and for disabled folks to share resources and start mutual aid efforts specifically for QTGNCBIPOC disabled folks who are learners, students, and/or educators. Keep up with their socials to find out how you can support, and fill out this form if you’re interested in volunteering!
Sins Invalid
Sins Invalid is a disability justice-based movement-building and performance project that celebrates disabled people, centering and led by disabled Black, Indigenous, and people of the global majority, and queer, trans, and nonbinary people. Watch their IG to catch upcoming workshops, and follow this link to donate! Also, make sure to check out their website to learn more about their work and offerings, especially the resources tab.
SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition
SELAH is a neighborhood homeless coalition building a community-led response to homelessness in Los Angeles that addresses the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors and activates an empowered group of participants, volunteers and partners. They organize community transportation efforts, including van and TAP card distribution. Find out more about these and SELAH’s other programs on the program tab on their site. If you’re interested in volunteering, whether virtually or in person, follow this link!
All Power Free Clinic
The All Power Free Clinic is staffed by volunteer nurses and medics, and offers blood‑pressure checks, wound care and over‑the‑counter medicines every other Saturday at the bookshop’s grocery distribution. Volunteers also take pop‑up clinics to encampments and provide first‑aid training for street actions. Follow them on IG to stay up to date.
Mutual Aid Social Therapy
Mutual Aid Self/Social Therapy 2.0, or MAST for short, is a decentralized autonomous mental health project created to support radical activists fighting against the rise of fascism. Check out this post to find out more about how the model works!
Feel free to reach out to them via DM or email (mutual_aid_social_therapy@proton.me) with thoughts, questions, concerns, or if you want any assistance setting up a MAST group of your own.
DCRC (Disability Community Resource Center)
The DCRC is a Center for Independent Living dedicated to supporting people with all kinds of disabilities. The goal of our peer-led programs and services is the elimination of economic, social, attitudinal and environmental barriers people with disabilities face in their daily lives.
